From our busy friends in their hive homes straight into our products, honey has increasingly become part of the South African home.

Cape Coastal Honey, previously known as Hurters Honey, was founded in 1978 by Johan Hurter, who started beekeeping from home as a hobby. Today, the business is a reputable processor of high-quality honey at its plant just outside Langebaan on the West Coast. Cape Coastal Honey is the exclusive supplier to Woolworths and manufactures its entire honey range. For more than 40 years, the relationships we’ve formed with our farmers and suppliers have been cherished, giving us access to some of the best-quality honey from across South Africa, from beekeepers we know and trust.

Our range of pure South African badger-friendly honeys includes wild blossom, seasonal (blue gum, orange blossom, macadamia, litchi, fynbos), as well as some special varieties in smaller quantities, such as wild pea, apple, blueberry, carrot and cosmos. All beekeeping practices are audited regularly by the Endangered Wildlife Trust, and actively promote a prosperous beekeeping industry.
