Location: Capricorn Business Park, Muizenberg, Cape Town

700 people and operating over 5 sites in Cape Town with a wide range of products across various
categories. Customers span more than 40 countries across the world, from Canada to the Netherlands
to Japan and beyond
Job Objective:
The Operations Manager leads the manufacturing team to ensure plant metrics are achieved in a safe,
timely, quality, cost efficient and productive manner. The incumbent is accountable for the achievement
of product quality and foods safety, manufacturing costs, inventory management, productivity, strike
rate and HSE compliance.
The Ops Manager will be a key driver in development and implementation of facility and process
improvement initiatives.
Key Functional Areas:
- Responsible for overall management of the manufacturing processes as well as pre and post
manufacturing support functions and activities. - Manage monthly as well as annual metrics to support operation productivity, quality, food safety,
delivery and H&S. - Ensure compliance and accuracy on Procedures, Systems and Processes
- Ensure accurate and efficient Inventory Management
- Report on performance measures on a predetermined frequency
- Lead a team of motivated Supervisors and Managers in a customer focussed and efficiency driven
environment - Responsible for continuous improvement, management of best practices, documenting standard work,
and ensuring highest possible levels of productivity. - Drive the implementation of as well as compliance with the company Food Safety, Quality and HSE
programs. - Manage third party service providers.
- Manage costs against budgets set.
- Ensure site is appropriately staffed and functions are covered based on shift schedule.
- Manage team by effectively reviewing and providing feedback on KPI’s.

- Management of Logistics into and out of the site
Required prior learning/ experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
- 5-10 years’ People management experience is required
- 5- 10 years’ Production Management and leadership experience in a FMCG manufacturing
environment. - Experience in implementing world class manufacturing practices
Personal Characteristics:
- Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
- Proven leadership, management and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and provide direction.
- Strong drive for results is essential, with self-directed leadership, requiring minimal supervision & being
proactive. - Systems driven, Cape Herb and Spice rely heavily on data to back decisions and actions as well as
reporting and querying inventory variances so the incumbent must be keen to learn and utilize systems
which will ultimately simplify their role. - Must possess high ethical standards and ability to abide by CHS’s values and philosophies.
