Reporting to: Technical Manager
Location: Durbanville, Cape Town

Main purpose of the role:

Manage the growing process:

• Ensure the scheduling of the farm is correct 

• Ensure all operational inputs are managed correctly 
• Plan the operations and manning levels accordingly 

• Ensure that process methodology is adhered to 

• Manage quality and yield 

• Monitor entire process from compost yard to harvesting 

• Manage the production outputs 

• Planning machinery routine maintenance schedule 


Manage the costs: 


• Ensure raw materials are in line with budgets 

• Ensure chemicals are in line with budgets 

• Ensure that labour cost are in line with budget 

• Ensure that overtime are in line with the budget 

• Manage and control the requisition of temporary staff 

• Manage the requisition of growing materials 


Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 compulsory, Diploma in Agricultural/ Horticulture and tertiary agricultural or related qualification an added benefit
• Knowledge of the Health and Safety and Quality legislation
• Basic knowledge of biology
• Management Development Training will be advantageous.
• 5 Years’ experience in a mushroom production/horticultural environment
• Excellent MS Office, some exposure to Syspro or other stock software
