Location: Plattekloof, Cape Town
Purpose of the role:
We have a great opportunity for a Head of ICT to join a dynamic organisation. As the Head of ICT, your role will be to lead and manage the strategic direction, implementation and operation of ICT systems across the Group. This includes overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, business intelligence, systems integration and ensuring alignment with business goals. The role will also be responsible for managing third-party ICT service providers and ensuring consistent ICT service standards and security across multiple divisions.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy and governance
- Implement the Group-wide ICT strategy aligned with Libstar’s business objectives.
- Establish and/or maintain governance frameworks, policies and best practices for ICT operations across all divisions and subsidiaries.
- Ensure alignment with the King IV Code of Corporate Governance, POPIA and other regulatory standards.
Operational leadership
- Oversee the performance and delivery of ICT systems, infrastructure and services across the Group.
- Lead, manage and support the ICT Manager and BI Manager in delivering reliable operational systems and actionable insights for decision-making.
- Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested.
Stakeholder engagement
- Act as the central point of coordination between Group ICT and divisional IT teams.
- Engage with senior leadership and divisional heads to understand business needs and align ICT service delivery accordingly.
- Provide expert guidance and thought leadership to promote innovation and digital transformation.
- Provide quarterly reports to the Audit and Risk Committee, covering ICT performance, risks, compliance and key initiatives.
- Manage the lead the ICT Steering Committee (SteerCom), ensuring strategic alignment of ICT initiatives with business objectives and tracking progress of key projects.
Vendor and service provider management
- Manage the Group’s central ICT service provider, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs), performance standards and cost-efficiency.
- Evaluate and monitor the performance and security posture of all third-party ICT-related vendors used across the Group.
Cybersecurity and risk management
- Lead the Group’s cybersecurity strategy and response protocols.
- Implement and monitor controls to manage ICT-related risks.
- Ensure data protection and compliance with relevant legislation.
Budget and resource management
- Develop and manage the ICT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and appropriate allocation of resources.
- Monitor ICT project spend and ROI across the Group.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferable.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in ICT management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in implementing ICT strategies and managing large-scale ICT projects across multiple departments.
- Experience working within a group structure with multiple divisions or subsidiaries.
- Excellent knowledge of ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Valid drivers license and own transport.
- Willing to travel as required.
