Reporting to: Maintenance Manager
Location: Montagu, Western Cape
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
The maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining the equipment on the production floor, warehouses, and admin building to ensure equipment availability and to keep the equipment and buildings in good working condition at all times.
WORKING HOURS: Day: 07:00 – 17:00 Night: 17:00 – 03:00 – Be prepared to work overtime as required and work night shift on rotation.
- Maintenance services: Daily and weekly planning in coordination with the work management system and production schedule.
- Preventive Maintenance: Creating and planning preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment availability.
- Attending to breakdowns: Fault-finding and repair of breakdowns as they occur and report on any downtime according to the governance manual.
- Route cause analysis: To eliminate or reduce problems and faults encountered.
- Safety audits: Assist with machine safety audits to ensure all equipment are safe for use. Ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Administration: Ensure that all work done on site is documented and fed back into the maintenance system. All route cause analysis
- Ordering of spares: Identify and obtain quotes for needed spares to be reported to the foreman for ordering. Report low spares stock levels and spares used to the foreman.
- Assist in the planning of projects and the executing thereof: Assist in managing projects and contractors on site to ensure timeous completion according to standards and project scope.
- Electrical/mechanical installations: Ensuring all new installations are done according to requirements as set out by legislation.
- Assist with contractor management: Assist with the managing of contractors on site to ensure compliance with company policy and ensuring work is completed on time and at standard.
- Housekeeping: To ensure that work areas are always kept clean and tidy.
Functional Competence – skills and knowledge required for job:
- Fitter/Electrician qualification
- Fault finding skills
- Attention to detail
- Computer literate – Syspro, Excel, Outlook, DMS
- Knowledge of automation. (pneumatics, hydraulics, servo’s, plc’s)
- Knowledge of FMCG environment and GMP’s
- Team Player – good communication skills.
- Strong understanding and conscious of safe work practices.
- Behavioural Competence – attributes required for the job:

- Decision making skills.
- Punctual administration.
