Warehouse Manager – Ambassador Foods / Mpumalanga

Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

Location: White River, Mpumalanga

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring that stock is managed in accordance with company policies, quality standards, and operational efficiency goals. This role includes supervising warehouse staff, coordinating logistics, and maintaining accurate stock control procedures.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage all warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials and packaging.
  • Supervise and coordinate the warehouse team to ensure daily tasks are completed accurately, safely, and on time.
  • Plan and conduct monthly stocktakes in accordance with company procedures, ensuring accurate inventory records are maintained.
  • Schedule and coordinate the movement of goods within the warehouse and to production facilities, ensuring timely and correct picks and deliveries.
  • Ensure all raw materials are correctly labelled with allergen information and stored in the appropriate allergen-specific storage sections.
  • Monitor and identify slow-moving or obsolete stock; escalate and manage disposal or reallocation with appropriate approvals.
  • Oversee the ordering and stock control of warehouse consumables and PPE, liaising with relevant departments as necessary.
  • Conduct and document daily inspections of the warehouse for signs of pests or infestations; report findings promptly to the Quality Department.
  • Maintain and manage the warehouse cleaning schedule, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently met.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety, ensuring warehouse staff follow safe working practices and comply with company H&S policies.
  • Collaborate with the Quality, Procurement, and Production teams to support overall operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Implement and monitor the use of warehouse management software (WMS) for inventory control.
  • Uphold IBL standards within the warehouse.
  • Perform any other ad hoc duties related to the above responsibilities as required by management.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) is required. A relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field will be a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience in a warehouse environment, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience working with an ERP system (e.g. MS Navision, SAP, or similar) is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level or above).
  • Experience with QlikView or other data reporting tools is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse and inventory management processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • A proactive, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of analytical thinking and effective problem-solving, especially in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.
  • Physically fit and mobile, with the ability to move throughout the warehouse as needed.
