Junior Buyer – Ambassador Foods / Mpumalanga

Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

Location: White River, Mpumalanga

The Junior Buyer will support the procurement team in sourcing, purchasing, and managing raw materials and packaging for Ambassador Foods. This role will focus on day-to-day purchasing activities, supplier coordination, and administrative support to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. Working closely with Buyers, the Procurement Manager, and cross-functional teams, the Junior Buyer will play a key role in maintaining smooth operations and supporting the strategic procurement function.

Key performance areas include:

  • Assist in the procurement of raw materials and packaging as per production and business requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders, follow up with suppliers, and ensure on-time delivery of goods.
  • Support Buyers in collecting and analyzing supplier quotes, contracts, and price comparisons.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier databases.
  • Monitor stock levels and collaborate with the warehouse team to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Assist in resolving supplier issues such as late deliveries, shortages, or quality concerns.
  • Work with the logistics team to support smooth inbound deliveries and customs clearance where required.
  • Liaise with the technical team to ensure supplier products meet specifications.
  • Provide administrative support to Buyers and the Procurement Manager, including preparing reports.
  • Stay informed on market trends, pricing, and availability of materials to support cost-effective buying.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or related field (preferred but not essential).
  • 1–2 years’ experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain support (internship or junior role acceptable).
  • Exposure to FMCG, food manufacturing, or packaging procurement will be an advantage.
  • Fresh graduates with strong academic performance and interest in procurement are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of food industry standards, compliance, and quality assurance will be beneficial.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for supplier and internal team coordination.
  • Basic understanding of procurement, supply chain, and inventory processes.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills for comparing supplier offers and pricing.
  • Computer literacy, including Excel and ERP/procurement systems.
