We are thrilled to announce two vacancies for the role of Business Accounts Manager within our Retail division. The ideal candidates will be tasked with planning, executing, managing, and reviewing all sales activities across specified Channels within their key accounts portfolio.
The primary responsibility of this role is to implement and deliver the Customer Strategy within the designated Channel, ensuring the achievement of budget targets (value, volume, margin). The role involves comprehensive management of customer accounts on a national level.

Key Job Functions:
- Manage customer account profitability – Deliver the required top line, GM, GM% and EBITDA as set out for the customer account.
- To achieve volume and profitability targets for customer accounts on a national and regional level.
- Budget planning.
- To develop and agree strategic customer objectives by account (OGSM).
- Assess and recommend strategic options to the category team.
- Successfully implement customer strategy and plans.
- Plan and Execute promotional activity, to optimise returns based on consistent optimization of commercial & brand principal send.
- Participate in trading term negotiations and negotiate favorable rates.
- Drive execution of NPD’s & product renovations.
- Collaborate effectively across departments/functions to ensure business objectives are aligned and delivered upon in line with Key Performance Areas.
- Regular meetings with Finance and monitor debtors.
- Accurate management and implementation of customer pricing.
- Ensure product availability and visibility on shelf.
- Conduct customer reviews at all levels.
- Develop and apply regional customer contact strategy.
- Manage, measure and review the outsourced sales and distribution agents performance. Regular meetings with RSM’s & Operations Managers.
- Communicate sales targets and strategies/action plans to sales and distribution agents.
- Monitor competitor activity.
- Ensure regular and accurate sales forecasting in conjunction with Supply Chain / Logistics.
- Develop and manage customer relationships.
- Regular Trade Visits by region.
- To gather, process, analyse and report on customer data, including category.
- Demonstrate Leadership behaviours aligned with leadership principals – ensure compliance with systems, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct regular meetings and communications with key accounts to review performance, address concerns, and identify opportunities for collaboration and expansion.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and industry developments related to key accounts, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on key account performance, sales forecasts, and market insights to management and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding the scope of services or products offered to key accounts.
- Resolve issues and conflicts with key accounts in a timely and effective manner, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and customer trends to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking activities with key Principals to promote the organization and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed records of interactions, transactions, and communications with key accounts in CRM systems or databases.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Must have Matric.
- BCom or related qualification will be an advantage.
- 5+ years relevant experience in FMCG environment.
- 3 + years minimum experience in account and sales management.
- 3+ years of experience managing an account at a national customer level.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of sales principles, customer relationship management, and account management techniques.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Customer-focused orientation and commitment to delivering exceptional service.
