Position: Warehouse Manager

Location: White River, Mpumalanga

We are seeking a highly organised and results-driven Warehouse Manager to lead and optimise our warehouse operations. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and productivity.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence, managing a dedicated team, and supporting the business in meeting its customer and service delivery objectives.

Key performance areas include:

Integrated People Management and Leadership:

  • Lead manage and develop a high performing team.
  • Manage and utilize warehouse and people resources to optimise all warehousing costs.
  • Deliver against the Operational Budget for the Warehouse inbound and inventory areas.
  • Manage costs against budget, initiating corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and development of warehouse staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual performance scorecards, career plans and succession plans.
  • Maintain and enhance professional and technical knowledge.
  • Drive and promote the Ambassador Foods values – align team behaviour to the values.
  • Prepare relevant correspondence, reports and manuals covering operations, maintenance, safety, and security.
  • Build and enhance effective working relationships with the other Factory Departments.
  • Complete weekly and monthly inbound reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance of the warehouse to relevant legislative and standard operations.

Inbound Management:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of receiving documentation and adherence to receiving procedures.
  • Minimize time and cost associated with container unloading.
  • Manage the storage and materials handling process:
  • Ensure that goods are safely and securely stored, including management of stock health / rotation, allergen management.
  • Double checking of incoming stock
  • Ensure adherence to safe materials handling practices.
  • Constantly monitor stock health and ensure adherence to stock rotation policies.
  • Assess requirement for additional temporary storage, whether containers or third-party warehouses.
  • Assist in planning, rate and service negotiation where required.

Inventory Management:

  • Work with the Production Team to ensure continuous availability of stock.
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with stock system.
  • Manage and resolve all stock queries.
  • Identify storage space allocation and ensure goods are stored appropriately and in the correct temperature conditions.
  • Ensure stock availability in line with Planning targets.
  • Stock management and maintenance based on updated forecasts.
  • Efficient and proactive re-ordering of stock.
  • Efficient and proactive monitoring of orders.
  • Completion of Inventory scorecards on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Monitor supplier service level based on stock ordered vs. stock received.
  • Work with the Commercial and Food Service teams to provide stock for factory trials.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports as well as additional reports as required by management.
  • Daily and monthly stock counts

Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Health & Safety:

  • Maintain the physical condition of warehouses and equipment through planned testing, maintenance, repair and replacement.
  • Priorities and build a health and safety culture among teams.
  • Ensure all H&S standards are adhered to.
  • Manage non-conformances and record on the company’s system.
  • Non-conformance closed in full (within 96 hours).
  • OHS inspections completed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree/Diploma would be advantageous.
  • 5-10 years’ management experience working within a FMCG or wholesale and retail environment or similar.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in an FMCG or wholesale and retail environment.
  • People leadership and management including planning, organizing, control, staffing.
