Purpose of the Role

The Financial Accountant will support the finance function by ensuring accurate financial reporting, disciplined month-end processes, strong reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements. The role will provide reliable financial information, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and partner with operational teams to improve financial visibility and decision-making across the Wet Condiments Category.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports, and supporting schedules within agreed deadlines.
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Maintain and review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are resolved timeously.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis to assist management decision-making.
• Prepare and submit statutory returns and assist with VAT, audit, and compliance requirements.
• Review financial transactions across accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and fixed assets to ensure correct allocation and reporting.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparation, providing accurate supporting documentation and resolving audit queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting processes, and data accuracy within the finance function.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
• Able to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage with finance, operations, and management teams.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfortable working on Syspro or similar ERP systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification or progress towards a professional designation will be advantageous.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a financial accounting, management accounting, or similar finance role.
• Experience in an FMCG or manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems; SYSPRO experience advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of VAT, reconciliations, general ledger processes, and financial reporting.
