Purpose of the Role
The Financial Manager will take ownership of the finance function for the Wet Condiments Category, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong governance, disciplined financial controls, and effective business partnering. The role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, working capital oversight, compliance, audit readiness, and providing meaningful financial insight to support profitable and sustainable business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management, Reporting & Business Support
- Lead the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports, variance analysis, and commentary to support effective decision-making.
- Drive the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in partnership with operational and commercial teams.
- Provide commercial insight by analyzing financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending actions to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain strong financial controls, ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, and safeguard business assets.
- Oversee month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions, journals, and review of the trial balance.
- Manage working capital performance, including oversight of debtors, creditors, inventory-related reporting, and cash flow forecasts.
- Coordinate internal and external audit requirements and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Oversee capital expenditure and fixed asset reporting, ensuring accurate recording, review, and control.
- Lead, support, and develop the finance team while promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and efficient financial processes.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into practical business
insight. - Excellent analytical, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail, strong governance mindset, and commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
- Confident communicator who can partner effectively with finance, operational, commercial, and
leadership teams. - Advanced Excel capability and strong ERP/system literacy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional qualification as CA(SA) – Compulsory
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant finance experience, including at least 3 years in a financial management or
supervisory role. - Experience in an FMCG, food manufacturing, or manufacturing environment advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting,
forecasting, VAT, and statutory compliance. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and BI/reporting tools.
- Knowledge of SYSPRO system advantageous.
