Reporting Line: Senior Buyer

Location: Stikland, Cape Town

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Buyer to join our team, specializing in value-added meat products. This role plays a pivotal part in procurement of goods, management of the stores department and ensuring material availability for the production department.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Sourcing: Source products and suppliers aligned to operational needs and requirements, obtain and present competitive quotations, and coordinate closely with planning and operations teams.
• Supplier Selection & Management: Conduct ongoing market research, negotiate pricing and contracts, evaluate supplier performance, manage non-conformances, confirm lead times, and continuously review and update the approved supplier list.
• Internal Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with internal departments to understand requirements, provide order status updates, follow up on orders and deliveries, and proactively communicate deviations or alternative solutions.
• Shipping & Logistics Coordination: Place orders with suppliers, clarify and communicate shipping instructions, and liaise with forwarding and clearing agents to ensure smooth import processes.
• Documentation & Filing Control: Maintain accurate and accessible supplier contracts, quotations, payment terms, specifications, and import documentation, ensuring all records are up to date.
• Inventory Management: Monitor deliveries and stock levels against plan, track inventory, and oversee overall inventory control. Oversee monthly stock takes.
• Management: Lead and manage the Stores Department, including staff supervision and overall operational performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12
• A National diploma in Purchasing Management
• Computer Literate, Word, Excel, Syspro
• Minimum of 5-year experience in Buying.
• Experience in Stock control
• Experience in Staff management
• Experience in working with a diverse product range and Supplier base
• Strong Technical Knowledge
• Assertive Negotiation Skills
• In depth consumer and market knowledge
• Computer Literate (Syspro, Excell)
