Location: White River, Mpumalanga
Ambassador Foods is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buying & Planning Assistant to support the procurement team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient planning and purchasing of raw materials and packaging, maintaining optimal stock levels, and supporting smooth supply chain operations.
This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent organisational ability, and a keen interest in supply chain and procurement processes.
Key performance areas include:
- Assist in planning and forecasting the procurement of raw materials and packaging based on demand requirements
- Monitor stock levels to ensure sufficient supply while avoiding overstocking
- Track and analyse demand trends to support accurate purchasing decisions
- Create and process purchase orders in line with procurement requirements
- Liaise with suppliers to place orders and confirm lead times
- Follow up on outstanding orders and ensure timely delivery of goods
- Communicate with internal teams (production, warehouse, finance) to align supply with operational needs
- Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records
- Assist in identifying supply risks and proposing solutions
- Support supplier relationship management and performance monitoring
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Business Management, or a related field
- 1-3 years’ experience in a procurement, buying, or planning role (FMCG experience advantageous)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadline
