Factory Shop Manager – Lancewood / Western Cape

Location: Somerset West, Western Cape

To maximize branch profitability and sustainable development of the branch by creating an optimal environment through maintaining and improving retail practices and systems used. Support, monitor, coordinate and manage work performed by direct reports. Consistently meet and exceed the expectations of the customers.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Branch Profit Maximization

  • Plan, implement and monitor regional manager’s operational requirements at branch level
  • Manage, monitor and facilitate efficient branch operations and sales performance for ensuring consistent profit maximization (i.e. non-expenses/ sales profit)
  • Consistently maximize branch gross profit through effective management of key gross profit drivers (e.g. sales and markdowns)
  • Maintain stock holding budget and stock ordering with required parameters
  • Maintain 100% consistency and adherence to stock price changes
  • Submit weekly / monthly branch profitability report which is inclusive of waste and damage reports and administrative reports

People Management

  • Schedule / conduct daily planning meetings with the team
  • Lead, motivate, coach and enable direct reports to meet profitability and customer service standards
  • Train and develop direct reports according to the core competencies of their roles
  • Identify and develop high performing staff for succession planning purposes
  • Ensure adequate staff complement are scheduled in line with operations/ working schedules
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, including disciplining staff where needed

Stock Availability Assurance

  • Proactively plan, monitor and maintain consistent stock range availability and movement according to demand.
  • Manage and secure alternative arrangements for stock shortages, e.g. inter-branch transfers (IBT’s)
  • Proactively plan, communicate and implement stock promotions according to seasonal changes
  • Oversee and accurately report on monthly stock taking process in line with company policies and procedures

Meeting Customer Expectations

  • Maximize customer loyalty by creating a consumer-friendly environment through effective people and process utilization
  • Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of customer returns / complaints policy
  • Resolve or refer all unresolved queries at branch level to your Responsible manager

Other Core Functions

  • Overall responsibility for store profitability and effectiveness
  • Non-negotiable: Product and Price
  • Reduce selling price on about to expire fresh food stock in order to minimize waste
  • Staff motivation, reallocation, multi-skilling and discipline as per company policies and procedures
  • Prepare any reports as required by the Responsible Manager in written, tabulated and graphic format

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 Certificate
  • Computer literate (MS Excel and knowledge of WMS is advantageous)
  • 3 years’ demonstrated experience within a similar role within a retail/ factory / production environment
  • Valid Driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
