Reporting to: Financial Manager
Location: White River, Mpumalanga
The main purpose of this position is to ensure accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, and effective financial management within the food manufacturing facility, while providing insights and support to drive cost efficiency, operational performance, and informed business decision-making. Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS, local tax laws, and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and records to support financial reporting and audit requirements.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and implement necessary adjustments.
- Provide explanations and insights on financial performance to management, highlighting key trends and anomalies.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
- Perform variance analysis between actual results and budgets/forecasts, identifying the causes of deviations.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure budget adherence and financial accountability.
General Ledger & Asset Management
- Maintain and reconcile all accounts in the general ledger on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with managing the fixed asset register, including asset additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries and other financial transactions.
- Monitor accruals, prepayments, and intercompany balances to maintain accurate financial records.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Coordinate and support external and internal audits, providing all required documentation and explanations.
- Evaluate and enhance internal control procedures to mitigate financial risks.
- Identify potential financial risks and implement corrective measures in line with company policies.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and approval processes.
Business Support & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide timely and relevant financial analysis and insights to management and operational teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Respond to financial queries from internal stakeholders promptly and accurately
- Assist in ad-hoc projects and initiatives that require financial expertise, including cost-benefit analysis and process improvement.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA) preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in financial accounting, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations, and ERP systems (preferably Syspro).
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
