Reporting line: Maintenance Manager
Location: George, Western Cape
Role Overview:
Responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance tasks and equipment at the facility. Assist the Maintenance
Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Maintenance department / facility to ensure departmental goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper storage and inventory management of all spare parts and components.
- Management and coordination of resources, including materials, tools, and manpower, to optimize operations
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment modifications.
- Generate reports on maintenance performance, safety incidents and project status.
- Conduct inspections and functional tests on maintenance systems to verify compliance with quality standards and operational requirements.
- Review work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to establishes procedures.
- Oversee the execution of routine preventative maintenance tasks on all equipment and systems to ensure reliability and optimal performance.
- Coordinate and participate in diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical/ electrical issues, guiding the team in identifying solutions.
- Liaise with other departments and management to ensure seamless execution of tasks and address electrical issues.
- Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear instructions and facilitating open communication.
- Manage the departmental performance objectives through identify training needs within the team and provide training, coaching, and mentoring to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Measure efficiency of the team members/ reportees on an on-going basis to ensure that targets and objectives are met.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices in electrical operations.
- Ensure the following: machine availability and reliability as per set standard; condition monitoring of all machines and the completion of all related documentation is done; capturing all maintenance documents and maintain records; compliance and effectiveness of the planned maintenance system; etc.
- Develop and control profits, plans and budget. Reporting weekly and monthly on equipment efficiencies and adherence to maintenance budget and maintenance plan.
- Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure that total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Manage and coordinate all require tasks to ensure our asset management (DMS) and financial management systems (Syspro) relating to but not limited to the maintenance department is executed and adhered to as per Lancewood’s requirements.
- Initiating, coordinating, and leading all CAPEX projects for the Swellendam facility and working closely with Engineering departments to execute the CAPEX plan accurately and effectively for the Swellendam Facility.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Redseal)
- Computer literate
- Strong knowledge on relevant legislation that governs a manufacturing environment
- 10 years’ experience as artisan in a production environment
- 3 years’ demonstrated experience in a leadership role
Skills, Competencies and Requirements:
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development, fostering collaboration and driving performance.
- Experience in managing both internal teams and external agents.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation.
