National Key Account Manager | Wet Condiment Category – Libstar / Cape Town or Johannesburg

Location:        Cape Town or Johannesburg

Purpose of the Role:

To develop and implement the category strategy within the Top End or Wholesale channels through customer relevant account plans that deliver the planned financial performance of the business. Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the strategic account plan at a regional level to ensure delivery of budgeted sales, profit and set objectives. 

Key Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Generating Demand: 
    • Deliver planned financial performance of the business.
    • Responsible for management of Route to Market partners. 
    • Identify & implement effective customer programmes that are driven through the POP vision & strategies.
    • Consolidate customer & consumer promotional activity for optimal return based on consistent optimization of commercial spend.
    • Ensure range/SKU optimization by channel.
    • Driving demand fulfilment through effective allocation of priorities, setting disposal criteria and consolidating demand forecast.
    • Work with all major customer groups to develop a 3 year growth channel, customer and category relevant plans, which offer clear points of difference from both their competitors and ours – inclusive of Brands, Dealer own Brand’s and Private Label.
    • Review all new business channel opportunities and on-going channel development strategy.
    • Management of overall Trade Spend by channel, including evaluation of the spend.
    • Drive execution of NPD’s or product renovation for Brands, DOB’s and PL by channel as defined in the Channel Plans.
    • Determine trade communication strategy, oversee trade communication plan and review.
  • Team/People Management:
    • Demonstrate Leadership behaviors aligned with leadership principles, SHE – ensure compliance with systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Responsible for all people related management and development opportunities within direct team including succession planning and performance management.
    • Accountable for functional competency development and planning of Internal/External teams.
  • Strategic management of the Regional Field Operations Business: 
    • Consolidate the key facts and figures available from the area, the business, product and categories as well as competitor information to deliver and execute an integrated plan, aligned with the national Business Units strategy.
    • Ensure that the regional teams receive appropriate direction and support to achieve the business KPI’s including the target for value market share as set by the Business Units.
  • Supply chain management and resource management
    • Ensure that the customer’s forecasts are included in the monthly forecasting report.
    • Ensure product availability in all potential channels.
    • Accountable for functional competency development of our Trade Partners.
    • Oversee the appropriate management of the field operation team’s tools of trade.          

Required Role and Personal Capabilities:

  • Excellent commercial, numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to work with others to achieve objectives
  • FMCG experience (in channel and category development), key account management, Sales Operations and Marketing
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification (commercial degree)
  • At least 5-8 years of knowledge and experience in field operations in the FMCG market. Knowledge including customer management, channel management, business planning, and sales strategies.
  • Leadership and people management experience                                                
  • Experience in the Customer Management is highly advantageous
  • Computer literate
