Reporting Line: Business Unit Head

Location: Blackheath, Western Cape

Purpose of the role:

The NPD and Production Lead will lead our efforts in creating and launching innovative rusks and cookies. The role responsibilities include managing production processes in respective department, optimizing costs, and ensuring quality standards. With a focus on supplier relationships and team leadership, you will drive efficiency and excellence in the manufacturing operations.

Educational Requirements and Experience:

• Diploma/Degree in Food Technology/Science or related field of study.
• Grade 12 (Matric) and/or relevant Tertiary qualification.
• 3 – 5 years’ previous experience in Food/Bev sector.
• 2 years’ supervisory/managerial experience.
• 2 years’ product development experience (preferably in Food Industry).
• Familiarity with ERP systems or other production planning software is advantageous.
• Understanding of food safety regulations and quality assurance standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

New Product Development (NPD) Leadership

• Lead the execution of new product development projects from concept to launch.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify consumer trends and competitive
  landscape.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative product concepts and prototypes.

Production Management

• Plan and coordinate production schedules for departments (Cookies) to meet demand forecasts and inventory targets.
• Optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements in production operations.

Suppliers and Vendor Management

• Identify and onboard suppliers/vendors for raw materials and packaging.
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement improvements as necessary.

Team Leadership and Development

• Supervise and support the NPD and production teams, ensuring alignment with company goals
  and standards.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
