Purpose of the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a SHE Officer to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced FMCG environment. This pivotal role will drive a culture of continuous improvement across sites within Montagu Foods, ensuring alignment, standardisation, and excellence in operational practices.
The purpose of the role is to ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation, company standards, and best practices, while promoting a proactive safety culture and supporting the implementation and maintenance of SHE systems across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and company policies and applicable standards.
- Implement, maintain and continuously improve the SHE management system on site.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments and audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses and implement preventive and corrective measures.
- Facilitate SHE training and awareness initiatives to promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
- Monitor and report on SHE performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities, including evacuation drills and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment making sure housekeeping audits are performed.
- Maintain SHE documentation, registers and records in line with legal and company requirements.
- Support environmental management initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
- Ensure waste control Management.
- Ensure security procedures are implemented for access control and searches.
- Organize annual hygiene surveys and address non-conformances.
- Manage the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) budget and issuing to employees.
- Ensure all contractors uphold the compliance standard as prescribed.
- Work closely with operational teams to identify risks and implement practical safety solutions.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualification in Safety, Health and Environmental Management or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a SHE role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and environmental regulations
- Experience with SHE management systems, audits and risk assessments
- Incident investigation training or experience will be advantageous
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to deliver SHE training and conduct toolbox talks effectively
Additional Information
- Travelling, overtime and nightshift work may be required
