Reporting Line: Plant Manager
Location: Athlone, Cape Town
To develop, implement and manage the Safety, Environmental & Security Functions for Libstar Perishables Category. Develop Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Vision, Strategy & Targets as well as develop and promote principles and a culture that are the necessary base for compliance to both National Legislation and ISO Standards and any other regulatory and statutory requirements. The SHE Manager will evaluate the effectiveness of the SHE Management Systems and processes in achieving the Perishable Super Category’s strategic goals. Manage the functions of team member and ensure instructions are carried out accurately and timeously. Minimize and mitigate risk for Libstar Perishables Management and Employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and Maintain SHE (Safety Health & Environmental) Management Systems
- Do Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments for all aspects of the SHE Management System
- Monitor and Maintain Security Management Systems
- Ensure Legal Compliance to all relevant and applicable Legislation
- Together with the Management Team, develop SHE Objectives & Targets
- Implement and ensure compliance with all – Security Management Systems
- Carry out SHE Audits as per the required frequencies
- Carry out Security Audits as per the required frequencies
- Review and revise all SHE and Security Management Systems annually together with the Perishables Group SHE Manager.
- Ensure that all Incidents are recorded, investigated and corrective and preventative action is taken.
- Report on all Incidents to the Management Team
- Document Control of all functions (SHE, Security)
- Liaise with all Departments – Managers and Employees
- Liaise with Security and Other Service providers
- Liaise with Local Authorities, Suppliers and Governmental Agencies
- Internal and external audit co-ordination
- Co-ordinate external Audits (Safety, Environmental and Risk (Fire))
- Advise Management Team on Legal compliance/Maintain Legal Compliance
- Report on KPI’s – Weekly and Monthly
- SHE/Security Administration
- Prepare and manage all aspects of the Safety, Health, Environmental & Security Budgets
- Manage KPA’s of Subordinates (OHNP, SHE Systems Admin/Clerk.)
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Safety, Health & Environment
- SAMTRAC or B Tech Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety
- Environmental Management Certificate/Diploma
- SAATCA (Internal Auditor) Certificate
- 5 years’ Experience in an Industrial Environment
Security
- Grade A/Diploma Security Management
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Security in Industrial environment
Ideal
- Safety Management Certificate – SAMTRAC or B Tech Degree/Diploma
- SHE Auditor Certificate (SAATCA)
- Security Management either Diploma or Certificate
- Environmental Management Certificate or Diploma
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in an Industrial Environment
Experience:
- Min – 5 Years
- Ideal – 5 – 10 Years
