Libstar marked World Hunger Day and World Nutrition Day today, reaffirming our commitment to nourishing communities and improving access to safe, nutritious food.
These important global observances highlight the ongoing reality of food insecurity across South Africa, and the vital role collective action plays in restoring dignity, care and support to those most affected.
As part of this year’s initiative, and in the spirit of Champions for Good, the Libstar Central team hosted a community activation at the Ravensmead Educare Crèche and Seniors Community Centre in Cape Town.
The initiative supported approximately 150 young children, as well as members of the local senior community – many of whom face ongoing socio-economic challenges, further intensified by the harsh winter conditions.
Volunteers spent time serving warm soup and rolls to the children during lunchtime, with the elderly community members also catered for later in the day. In addition, winter essentials collected by Central Office employees formed part of a broader winter drive, complemented by a Group contribution to extend the reach and impact of the initiative.
While a single meal cannot solve hunger, it can offer something equally powerful: a moment of connection, compassion and shared humanity. These small but meaningful acts reflect Libstar’s ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve.
